January ‘22 Board Meeting Summary
The new MSCA board is up and running. The first board meeting of the year was held on January 13th with all the board members in attendance. The four hour meeting covered a lot of ground, addressing multiple topics of concern as well as plans for future community events.
The board will continue to gather contact information for the newest, updated Directory through January and February. We are currently working to verify household and contact information for all the mountain residents - a lot has changed in the past few years.
Residents who haven’t verified their information through our online form on the MSCA webpage will be contacted by a board member or a Monte Sano resident volunteer. The online form will be available until March 1st and can be found at www.montesano.org.
If you would like to help sponsor the new Directory by purchasing an ad in the Directory, please submit your ad and payment between now and March 1st. Any questions or submissions can be directed to our Directory Coordinator, Kem Robertson at 256-534-1314 or by emailing directory@montesano.org. Ad details are also pictured in the comments below.
We will be holding a contest to select the art for the Directory cover. Details to follow soon!
Your MSCA Neighborhood Liason, Mary Dotson, is hard at work on multiple issues currently affecting mountain residents. Mary and the team are currently working on hopefully getting much needed repairs to the sidewalks on Nolen and on the Boulevard. Mary is also exploring options to help aid residents to address their recurring drainage problems and continuing power outages. If you are affected by either of these two issues, please contact Mary for possible aid and avenues to hopefully help with these issues: msca.neighborhoodliaison@montesano.org.
Additionally Cam Scales and the Monte Sano Women’s Club have compiled a lovely Welcome Package for new residents to the mountain that highlights both practical household information and local clubs & organizations. A pdf file of this helpful information will be added to the website at a later date.
I am hoping to form neighborhood block captains for the whole community. Block Captains would help their neighbors with sharing/announcing community events or neighbor’s needs, as well as helping to plan possible block events with their neighbors within their blocks. If you are interested in being a block captain for your street or area please reach out to me at msca.president@montesano.org.
Additionally, an updated MSCA website will be unveiled in the coming months.
We know one of the top topics for the Association is for us to all be able to safely gather together again. Additional details of a possible event, tentatively scheduled for May, are being discussed and will be determined and announced later this spring.
If you have any other concerns, please feel free to reach out to any of us.
