Winter Weather Reminders

Governor Kay Ivey has issued a State of Emergency for Winter Weather. You can read the whole proclamation here.

Wintery weather reminders:

  • Bring all pets inside from the severe cold.

  • Leave  your inside faucets dripping during these freezing temperatures.

  • Make sure you have unhooked all your outdoor water hoses and covered the attachment to your home.

  • Fill pitchers of water so you have water. One good rule of thumb is to have one gallon per person per day for at least three days, for drinking and sanitation

    • Some people even fill their bathtubs with water.

  • If we lose power, report it to Huntsville Utilities: (256) 535-4448

  • If power remains off for long periods of time, check on your neighbors especially any elderly neighbors.

To be even more prepared, follow FEMA’s guidelines on How to Build a Kit for Emergencies.

And of course… of we get lots of snow, remember to go have fun with your friends & neighbors!
